Introduction
I suppose this all started with the trilogy Specially Sarah,
All About Lucy and Just Jack. They were supposed
to be about children like my three but the last one changed my
youngest daughter, Jessica, into a boy and the first one would
now need to be re-titled "Really Rhiannon", since my
oldest daughter changed over to her second name when she was about
eighteen. (And the middle one isn’t Lucy, but Rebecca.)
Anyway, those three books were very much based on our family life,
with trips to the seaside and doctor, learning to swim, combating
headlice and all the other things that happen in families with
young children.
For older readers capable of more chapters I wrote The Four-legged
Ghosts (originally called "The Ghost Menagerie"),
A Vanishing Tail and Quantum Squeak, all about
a magic mouse called Cedric and his owner Alex. He and his sister
Carrie and their mysterious lodger Mungo Mackindoe are plunged
into a series of strange adventures when Cedric decides he can
do magic.
One-off books for juniors include the hugely popular Cyril
MC,
my only rap poem, and Trace in Space, the adventures of a girl
spaceship captain and her motley crew.
But I have also written books for series, such as King of the
Castle, Min’s First Jump and Max in the Jungle (Cartwheels);
The Second-Hand Ghost (Toppers); Beware, Princess!, Dracula’s
Daughter and Mermaid and Chips (Banana Books) and Dog
Powder (Superchamps).
Recently, I have written two books for Barrington Stoke about
Ben Silver and his computer-generated friend, Rory Polestar. These
are Virtual Friend and Virtual Friends Again. I hope to write a
third, Virtual Friends Forever, to complete the trilogy. (I seem
to like writing books in sets of three!)
